Education is the progressive discovery of our own negligence

Education can be defined as a skill that makes a man come out ignorance into the path of wisdom

So here negligence and ignorance are very similar attributes of a man.

In simple terms negligence or ignorance are nothing but the inability of a human to understand the processes of any activity.

This could be due to either not having the skills to understand or not interested in understanding, the result in either case being that the person remains unaware of the happenings or it can be put as uneducated.

Here I want to clarify that an educated person doesn’t mean one who has a degree from a recognised university but an educated person is one who is knows and understands the processes and ways of life and human activities. An educated person is in a state of social and economic wellbeing at least sufficient enough maintain him/her.

Hence we can say that we need to learn or discover the ways of life.

How do we do it? Learn from our mistakes – yes that is the easiest and most intuitive way to learn.

We always learn from our mistakes whether we like it or not. But not to commit the same mistake again remains under the control of the individual.

So it’s in a way slowly learning or discovering our ignorance and negligence.

This process makes us wise. So slowly and steadily a man becomes wise or educated.

'Having no opinions, is the only conducive way for a peace of mind'

Whence we say “Ignorance is Bliss” we try to clear our minds of all the ongoing thoughts which would result in a state of Bliss or a mind free from Anxiety or worry.

The topic of discussion derives from the above adage.

We have to question ourselves as to what mind is and why its peace so very important?

Mind is the thinking core of the whole human existence, as in mind is what brings in the uniqueness or individuality to every human’s existence. Else all Homo sapien's are physically and biologically the same.

Now what is peace of mind?

Peace of mind refers to a person’s thought process or the thinking core mentioned above which is calm, stable and at ease in its natural low energy state.

If we consider our mind’s to be similar to a black box having some inputs and outputs, then human sensory perception, our interaction with others and our emotions form the inputs of the black box called ‘Mind’. The output is also very similar wherein we use our actions to depict the outcome of the processing that happens inside the black box.

A state of peace is said to be achieved or attained when either the inputs are such that the results are coherent and controlled or when there is no input at all.

Let’s consider the latter case which forms the base of our discussion here.

Having no Opinions is like having no inputs to our brains or disconnecting our minds from the external happenings.

Hence we can say that ‘having no opinions’ is not the only way to have peace, as we could have self controlled inputs and coherent thinking or processing which in turn results in peace.

But during times of extreme frivolity one has to clear his/her thoughts to bring the mind to a stable condition where he/she can arrive at a conclusion or outcome.

However at times there are mental states where in the thought process is so very well structured and organised that it results in peace of mind.

Hence the mind’s peace depends on the state of mind and the prowess of the person wielding control over his/her mind.

So we can definitely say that there are other ways which are also conducive for peace of mind.

Tsunami 2 – The Japanese reprieve.

An earth quake of magnitude 8.9 occurred at 2.46 am at a distance of 80miles or 120kms of the eastern coast of Northern Japan.

An earth quake of this magnitude had not occurred in the region since the last 125 years.

The quake hit at a depth of 10km.This epi-centric quake gave rise to the Tsunami.

The north-eastern coast of Japan was hit by this Tsunami which had an average height of 33 feet or equivalent to a building of 3 levels.

The city of Sandai was swept by the Tsunami, crushing buildings, roads while carrying ships and automobiles along with it.

The Japanese govt was able to evacuate most of the people thereby minimizing the casualty to life.

The overall death toll was around 1000 and around 10,000 people are missing.

There were wide spread fires due to burning oil refineries.

Overall it was a ghastly sight where nature had shown its temper on mankind undoing all the man made entities. This event has made people to rethink and re-question themselves as to whether the direction in which we are going and the rate at which we are progressing is good or bad.

One has to definitely question the symbiosis between mankind and nature. Can the earth continue to cope with human activities?

Man has to identify this at an earlier stage rather than to despair at a later stage were things go out of hand and an irreversible process would be set in.

Man’s activities which require a humongous amount of earth’s resources can rekindle the nature’s ire.

Japan being a small and developed country having earth quake measures and evacuation methodologies at place was able to tame the nature’s fury quite effectively but the same cannot be said about other nations. The 2005 Tsunami which hit India has shown us what can happen to a developing nation like us.

From the above argument I would like to propose that Man should make necessary changes in his lifestyle there by reducing the exploitation of Nature.

To end this I would like to Quote Gandhiji’s famous saying- “Mother Earth provides everything for a Man’s needs but not for his greeds”

India vs South Africa, Group B VCA Nagpur

It is said that the game is worth the watch if the result is decided at the last moment.

True to the saying this match was undoubtedly worth the watch.

The Indians having given a brilliant start by Sehwag, Tendulkar and Gambir didn’t quite finish there innings well. To be precise it was a shoddy play of the game towards the end. India lost 9 wickets in quick succession after Sachin’s exit with a span of 9 overs scoring just 29 runs. What could have been a run feast turned out to be a display of choking towards the end.

The power play 3 which has constantly been a jinx to India in the previous games continued its reign as Indians were wiped All-out in the 49th over.

I should not forget to mention the great jinx that Sachin’s 100 in the first innings has!- we have ended up losing the game several times.

The Indian pace attack which was supposed to be a mediocre one against the Proteas turned out to be a decent one keeping the required rate high till the death overs. What went wrong against us was that we were unable to take wickets at regular intervals which would have troubled South Africans otherwise.

Dhoni and Co somehow managed to give a comeback post Powerplay 3 by winding some quick wickets and pushed the result to the last over.

Dhoni did a gamble by bringing in Nehra, who had 2 overs to bowl and had mediocre initial spells without any wickets and an economy of 6. Dhoni could have asked Harbhajan to finish it instead who had bowled his previous over very well giving away as few as 5 runs.

Nehra’s lack of experience in the highest level of the game should up and was hit for 10 runs in the first two balls which were pretty ordinary by the 9th man who is a spinner.

That ended India’s final stand to defeat the Proteas.

What could be commended here is the way Indian’s defended the target by improving their fielding substantially and pulling the game back towards the end.

As the saying goes ‘All is well that ends well’ same goes for the South Africans who did well in their bowling in the first innings and they were rightly the overall winners.
