Whence we say “Ignorance is Bliss” we try to clear our minds of all the ongoing thoughts which would result in a state of Bliss or a mind free from Anxiety or worry.
The topic of discussion derives from the above adage.
We have to question ourselves as to what mind is and why its peace so very important?
Mind is the thinking core of the whole human existence, as in mind is what brings in the uniqueness or individuality to every human’s existence. Else all Homo sapien's are physically and biologically the same.
Now what is peace of mind?
Peace of mind refers to a person’s thought process or the thinking core mentioned above which is calm, stable and at ease in its natural low energy state.
If we consider our mind’s to be similar to a black box having some inputs and outputs, then human sensory perception, our interaction with others and our emotions form the inputs of the black box called ‘Mind’. The output is also very similar wherein we use our actions to depict the outcome of the processing that happens inside the black box.
A state of peace is said to be achieved or attained when either the inputs are such that the results are coherent and controlled or when there is no input at all.
Let’s consider the latter case which forms the base of our discussion here.
Having no Opinions is like having no inputs to our brains or disconnecting our minds from the external happenings.
Hence we can say that ‘having no opinions’ is not the only way to have peace, as we could have self controlled inputs and coherent thinking or processing which in turn results in peace.
But during times of extreme frivolity one has to clear his/her thoughts to bring the mind to a stable condition where he/she can arrive at a conclusion or outcome.
However at times there are mental states where in the thought process is so very well structured and organised that it results in peace of mind.
Hence the mind’s peace depends on the state of mind and the prowess of the person wielding control over his/her mind.
So we can definitely say that there are other ways which are also conducive for peace of mind.
